If you watched the first season of Game of Thrones, or read any of the George R.R. Martin books upon which it is based, you know that the story covers a lot of ground: Geopolitics, murder, war, incest, dwarves, prostitutes, wolves and monsters. But all of that is just window-dressing on what is essentially a story about family - both how it defines us as well as how we rail against it. Each of the nine regions of the central continent of Westeros is ruled by one of nine major houses, but while they are the most powerful, they aren't the only families that play a role in Game of Thrones. Get ready for the show's second season premiere on April 1 by brushing up on all the warring clans, tribes, houses and families of your favorite fantasy soap opera.
