From the Ashes of Stargate Atlantis Comes Stargate Universe

A day after announcing the cancelation of Stargate Atlantis, Sci Fi Channel has given fans of the franchise some good news: there will be a new spin-off called Stargate Universe. Brad Wright and Robert Cooper will serve as executive producers of the series, just as they've done for the other two Stargates, but no cast has been announced yet. This incarnation of the franchise will take place in space, with a crew searching for spaceship and then finding themselves unable to return to Earth. Both Wright and Cooper and the Sci Fi Channel are hoping the new show will appeal to a younger audience, so expect the cast to include hot young people, much like the cast of every other show on television. Stargate Universe will kick-off with a two-hour movie early next year and begin as a weekly show in the summer.
