Fear Factor Stunts We Want To See

Fear Factor returns December 12th, and we couldn’t be more excited. Here’s our list of the 11 Fear Factor stunts we want to see!

Fear not, Fear Factor fans, the reincarnation of everyone's favorite stunt-based reality game show is no simple retread. With higher production values, bigger set pieces and a buffer Joe Rogan, Fear Factor 2.0 is shaping up to be an explosive good time. Thanks to advancements in technology, executive producer Dave Hurwitz said that stunts will be "bigger than anything we've done before." Basically speaking, limitations are a thing of the past.

With that being said, we thought we'd help the folks at Fear Factor narrow down their selection. In this feature, we list the 11 Fear Factor stunts we want to see. So read on and remember: don't try these at home.

Zombie Invasion

Zombies are the new vampires, and if you don't believe me, take a look at the ratings for The Walking Dead. Viewers can't get enough of the undead, and it's not because they're cute and cuddly. Why not trap contestants in a wooden shack surrounded by zombies? You could even hire The Walking Dead makeup team to make it that much more authentic. Yes, the contestants may know deep down that the zombies aren't real, but I guarantee you they'll forget that when all that stands between them and a hundred ugly walkers is a plank of cheap plywood.

Saw-themed Stunts

Now that the Saw movies are a thing of the past, the series' psychopathic trap-maker, Jigsaw, is in need of a new gig. We think he'd be a fine asset to the Fear Factor stunt team. No game show pulls off theme episodes better than Fear Factor, so it would be great to see one based around the Saw movies. Classic traps such as the Cube Trap and the Hog Pit could be implemented perfectly within the context of the show. Of course they'd have to be nerfed a bit—this is a game show not a snuff series—but they'd still be wickedly intense. Plus, it would be fun to see Joe Rogan ride around on a little tricycle.

Blind Date Stunts

Speaking of theme episodes, one of Fear Factor's best was the blind date shows. Back in the mid-'00s, dating reality competitions were all the rage, and Fear Factor capitalized on this trend by implementing it into their show. Just because the fad has passed doesn't mean Fear Factor shouldn't bring the blind date stunts back. After all, jumping off helicopters and diving off buildings is scary, but doing all that while trying to impress a hot, scantily clad lady (or dude)—well, that's downright terrifying. To amp things up a bit, losers should be forced to pick of the tab. Explosions don't come cheap.

Jumping the Shark

It's time for Fear Factor to jump the shark...literally. Like the Happy Days scene the phrase derives from, contestants will have to ride a jet ski over a shark, Fonzie-style. To make it a more authentic homage to the oft-derided episode, contestants will receive no prize for completing this stunt and no penalty for backing it down. Just like the "Hollywood (Part 3)," the whole thing will be one big, fantastic waste of time.

Unstoppable Recreation

One of the most pleasantly surprising movies of 2010 was Unstoppablethe story of a runaway locomotive on a collision course of doom. While that plot synopsis works great on film, we suspect it would work even better as a Fear Factor stunt. Contestants will have to climb aboard a speeding freight train and trigger the hand brakes on each car to slow it down before it goes off rails. To make things even more interesting, players will have to hang on during sharp curves and avoid exploding tankers. If they do not accomplish all this in time, they'll lose the challenge and break Rosaria Dawson's heart.
