Falling Skies Season
2 won't officially arrive on our planet until the Summer of 2012, but now that
the first season has wrapped and the ratings are in we can safely look forward
to a Skitter-filled future of mechs, Masons and Massachusetts-based warfare. Falling Skies Season 1 already gave us
plenty of alien action, interpersonal drama amongst the survivors and the
glowing charm of Colin Cunningham's John Pope. What can we expect from Falling Skies Season 2?
With solid ratings and a guaranteed ten episode order from
TNT for Summer 2012, Falling Skies fans can easily expect a bigger budget and
greater willingness to explore the world of the Skitter-infested Earth. Not to mention, Season 1 left us with
plenty of intriguing mysteries and questions over just what the aliens are,
what they have to do with their bipedal comrades and just what
will happen now that Noah Wyle's Tom Mason has joined their ranks in an effort
to save his son Ben and foster mutual understanding.
What would you like to see from Falling Skies Season 2? All out warfare? Flashbacks to the past before the
invasion? How about some good old
fashioned Moon Bloodgood in a tank top? Sky's the limit, and we can't wait a whole year to see what new sci-fi alien
action Falling Skies has in store for us. Here's our wish list,
but we also want to hear from you when it comes to the things we want from Falling Skies Season Two!
Falling Skies: What We Want From Season 2
Falling Skies Season 2 won't hit TNT until summer 2012, but we have an alien invasion-sized wish list of what we'd like to see from the second season of the new sci-fi hit.

| 11 | Tom Mason's Cliffhanger |
Stop me if you've heard this one before. One season ends on the cliffhanger of a major character being abducted to the other side, and the supporting characters spend the first five episodes of the new season either tracking said character down, or dealing with their amnesiac return. We're looking at you, Fringe, LOST and Smallville.
So for Falling Skies and its second season of only ten-episodes, why waste our time? Tom was taken by the Skitters at the end of season one, and as such should either return by the end of the season premiere, memory in tact, or the series should at least show us his time among the aliens. We're sure TNT would love not having to pay Noah Wyle for an episode or two, but the story would suffer for it.
| 10 | Bigger Battles |
Falling Skies Season 2 is bound to have a bigger budget, so let's unleash hell! The most action sequences we saw out of Season 1 were a few mech fights and Tom blasting an alien craft into their structure from a distance, so is it too much to ask for an all out firefight?
Guerilla warfare and smaller skirmishes make a great deal of practical sense for the show, but we'd be feeling a little cheated if we never witnessed at least one epic battle between Skitter and the Second Mass.
| 9 | More Moon Bloodgood |
We like that Moon Bloodgood's Anne Glass has shown a bit of restraint from her usual roles, with the surface cracking enough to let loose for brief attacks on a Skitter or venting her pained past. With Falling Skies Season 2, however, it's time to let loose.
Her man Tom Mason is missing in action, and it's time for Moon Bloodgood to re-join her sci-fi action roots from Terminator: Salvation and take the fight to the Skitters! Preferably with skimpier clothing.

We give a lot of credit and understanding to the limited budget of Falling Skies, but one thing it's sorely lacking is a sense of the global nature of the conflict.
With the action set outside Boston we wouldn't expect to be hopping a plane to India anytime soon, but some indication of how the Skitter invasion affected major areas like New York, London or even Japan would go a long way toward upping the scale of our interplanetary struggle. You'd be surprised how something as small as a brief communication or refugee character from another area would blow up the balloon without breaking the bank.
| 7 | Less Annoying Children |
TNT, as a network, shares strong familial values, and the relationships between families, adults and children form one of the core dynamics of Falling Skies. That said, quit with their whining! After what the survivors have seen, no child should be too young to receive defensive training and we'd all be a lot better off not having to suffer through teenage angst when there's, you know, an alien apocalypse outside your door.
Hal's a full-fledged fighter, Matt's going to pitch in however he can, Rick's over his creepy Skitter obsession and Ben's going to turn into a lizard or something. We've accepted it, stop over-dramatizing it and let's move on!
