The 2010 Emmy Nominations were announced this morning, and we’ve got your rundown – and a little handicapping.

Early this morning (5:30am in LA!), Joel McHale (Community), and Sophia Vergara (Modern Family) announced the nominees for the 2010 Emmy Awards – TV’s most prestigious/least relevant awards, depending on who you talk to. And naturally, they started about ten minutes late, and were only broadcast on the internet. You know, like TV usually is?

We were particularly stoked to see The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien nominated for Best Variety Show – and a little anti-stoked to see so many nominations for Glee. Though we know we’re kind of in the minority on that.

Here’s the list of the nominees in the major categories below, along with some of our reactions. And for a full list, head over to emmys.com, which I swear to god, crashed my browser continually for about two hours while I was trying to watch the noms. So, good luck with that.

Comedy Series

Curb Your Enthusiasm

Glee

Modern Family

Nurse Jackie

The Office

30 Rock

It’s nice to see Nurse Jackie take the “it’s not really a comedy, guys” spot – but we’re a little bummed that Community, Party Down, or Parks and Recreation, who all had fantastic years, didn’t make the cut. On this list, we’d like to see The Office take it, though it’s probably going to Glee. Guh.

Drama Series

Breaking Bad

Dexter

The Good Wife

LOST

Mad Men

True Blood

Yeah, Lost! Yay, True Blood! Hooray, Dexter! Actually, this list is spot on across the board. We’d go LOST, naturally, but this award is ending up in the AMC offices.

Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory

Larry David, Curb Your Enthusiasm

Matthew Morrison, Glee

Tony Shaloub Monk

Steve Carrell, The Office

Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock

Eh. Probably Alec Baldwin, right? Right.

Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

Lea Michele, Glee

Julia Louis Dreyfuss, The New Adventures of Old Christine

Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie

Amy Poehler, Parks and Recreation

Tina Fey, 30 Rock

Toni Colette, Nurse Jackie

At the very least, Amy Poehler should win an award for most significant improvement of a character. Last season? Eh. This season? Awesome.

Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad

Kyle Chandler, Friday Night Lights

Michael C. Hall, Dexter

Matthew Fox, LOST

Jon Hamm, Mad Men

Hugh Laurie, House

Yay, Matthew Fox! Hopefully if he wins, he can do that forehead grabbing thing he does every time he finds out Claire is his sister.

Lead Actress in a Drama Series

Kyra Sedgwick, The Closer

Glenn Close, Damages

Connie Britton, Friday Night Lights

Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife

Mariska Hargitay, Law & Order: SVU

January Jones, Mad Men

It was worth watching the telecast of the nominations just to see Joel McHale help Sophia Vergara pronounce Mariska Hargitay’s last name.

A few other nominations we’re excited about:

Mini-Series: The Pacific

Lead Actor Miniseries: Sir Ian McKellan, The Prisoner

Supporting Actor (Drama): Terry O’ Quinn, LOST; Michael Emerson, LOST

Supporting Actress (Comedy): Jane Lynch, Glee

And sigh of relief that “The End,” the last episode of LOST, got nominated for best writing.

The Awards will be broadcast on NBC on August 29th, and hosted by Jimmy Fallon. Who, it should be noted, is also nominated for Most Laughs At His Own Jokes In a Single Telecast.

So what do you think, TV fans? Who got unfairly nominated? And who got snubbed?  Find the complete list here.
