Doctor Who's Friendly Aliens

The Doctor has traveled much and has made many enemies. Not everyone he met was hostile, however. Let's take a look at some of the friendly aliens the Doctor has encountered during his travels.

The Doctor and his companions travel across billions of miles of space and billions of years of time. Their travels take them to the most obscure corners of existence, where they meet some very interesting characters. Some of those characters actually turn out to be friendly. It is important to note, of course, that just because one or two members of a species are friendly, doesn't mean the lot of them are. After all, not all humans are kind and benevolent, but it would be wrong to say we are all evil. From the Forest of Cheem to the Argolin, here are Doctor Who's Friendly Aliens.

If your favorite aliens didn't make the list, talk about it in the comments section. I can only include so many entries, after all. Don't be mad if I didn't include yours. These are not in order of importance, either. The more careful of you will note that I've put them in alphabetical order.

The Argolin

These aliens weren't always peaceful. In the year 2250, the inhabitants of Argolis waged a nuclear war against their longtime enemies, the Foamasi. Unfortunately, the war only lasted 20 minutes before the Argolin caved and surrendered. The resulting radiation has rendered them sterile. Faced with the extinction of their species, the Argolin abandoned their warlike ways and turned their planet into a luxury resort, the Leisure Hive.

CatKind

The CatKind are to cats what monkeys are to Humans. Simply put, they are anthropomorphic cats who are capable of interbreeding with humans in the far future. They are most well-known thanks to the Sisters of Plentitude, a group of CatKind who ran a hospital near the futuristic city of New New York. These felines are typically friendly, but don't get them angry – they have claws.

The Dalek Humans

Now, hear me out! When you hear the name "Dalek," that doesn't tend to conjure up images of friendliness. But in this case, it's time for an exception. When the Cult of Skaro created these genetic hybrids during their invasion of New York, they thought this would be the ultimate being. In a way, they were right. However, this creature had both reason and emotions. They also had the potential for free will. With everything that had previously made them Dalek -- lack of emotion and lack of free will -- now lost, the Dalek Humans had the potential to do a lot of good. Unfortunately, thanks to Dalek Caan, they didn't last long.

The Forest of Cheem

Much like the CatKind, the Forest of Cheem also hail from Earth. Their ancestors are the earth trees. The Forest of Cheem are bipedal and sentient, unlike their ancestors. They still prefer the natural way of life, however, and do not respect anything that is not born of nature. As a result, their race does not use computers or any other "metal" devices. They first meet the Doctor on Platform One, at an observation event where dozens of alien leaders gathered to watch the Earth finally consumed by the rapidly expanding Sun.

The Hath

These creatures don't seem very nice at first. They are at war with the Humans when we meet them, and they have weird fish heads. It turns out, however, that the Hath are very friendly when treated with respect. They befriend one of the Doctor's companions and later the rest of the Human colonists. In fact, according to later information, the Hath had initially befriended the Humans and offered to help them colonize. Nice guys.
