Michael C. Hall, Dexter Crew Unleash Major S.5 Spoilers at TCA

Apparently, the cast and crew of Dexter were saving the really juicy spoilers regarding season five for TCA rather than their panel at Comic-Con last weekend.

Sure, we still got some great spoilers out of Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter and assorted cast and producers in San Diego, but this past Thursday, Hall and new showrunner Chip Johannessen really let the dirt fly at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. For starters, it seems as though everyone involved realizes that they may have hit a zenith of sorts for Dexter (not to mention, how could they possibly top John Lithgow's stellar performance as the Trinity Killer), and reiterated that the show would be taking a much different approach moving forward than it had in previous seasons.

"One of the things we wanted to do is shake up that single big bad guy theme,” Johannessen said (via TheWrap), going on to explain that Dexter may be taking on multiple villains in the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Dexter executive producer Sara Colleton was quick to say a major element to season five would be "atonement." Have fun trying to decipher that one, Dex-heads!

That being said, a string of Tweets via Spoiler TV revealed some major info -- most coming straight from the serial killer's mouth -- which included the following tidbits:

• "a tattoo will play into the Miami Metro's big crime this year, henced [sic] Kate Moening's role as a tattoo artist"
• "Deb is the important character to track this season, as far as getting clues to who #Dexter really is, says EP."
• "'#Dexter relishes opportunity to reveal himself covertly,' says Hall."
• "new season of #Dexter will be about the blowback from Rita's death and Dex's role in all of that mess."
• "oooh, the kids are NOT alright after Rita's murder."
