Abed’s mental health has been in question since the very first episode of Community. While he’s very pleasant, it’s clear that he doesn’t operate quite the same as the other members of the study group. This never seems to stop him from leading a relatively normal life on campus, at least until season two’s Christmas episode.
Under the stress from an unknown issue, Abed soon sees the world as a stop animation special. Of course his friends are concerned by this development and ask professor of psychology Dr. Ian Duncan to help him. The group session turns weird when Abed takes everyone on a journey through a magical Christmas fantasy world. Of course, no one else can see what’s going on in Abed mind and their dialog in the fantasy world reflects it. The ends results is more or less an animated Christmas-themed game of Dungeons & Dragons.
