Chuck is going to celebrate the Super Bowl this year with a 3-D episode that will premiere the day after the traditionally disappointing sports event. They should pair up nicely together, as 3-D is also traditionally disappointing. Once you get over the scare of objects seemingly coming out of the TV screen at you, the glasses are uncomfortable, you look kind of dumb in them, and the thing is more of a gimmick than an entertaining episode anyway. Not sure how NBC plans to get enough 3-D glasses out to viewers for the episode, although they've tried this kind of thing before, for example with a 2005 episode of Medium that we still aren't talking about. Meanwhile, over in Japan, they've taken 3-D TV to new heights with the advent of a special 3-D television (you still need to wear those glasses to watch it, but they're working on glasses-less models) and a 3-D channel that airs an hour of 3-D shows every day. They're hoping to incorporate live sports events soon, so maybe by next year you'll be watching a 3-D Super Bowl followed by another 3-D episode of Chuck.
