When Survivor first debuted back in 2000, audiences tuned in for a chance to see real people
facing the elements. But something strange happened during the show's first season. Thanks to a cunning, snakelike contestant named Richard Hatch, Mark
Burnett's show about surviving hunger, weather and sleep deprivation
transformed into a show about surviving alliances, strategic plays and, most
importantly, blindsides.
Since Survivor: Borneo,
blindsides has become a Survivor tradition. Despite host Jeff Probst's incessant warning's to watch out for them,
players too comfortable with their position are still shocked when their name
is read off that unholy parchment. For the sake of good television, we hope
they never learn.
To celebrate this aspect of the game, we've compiled a list of the 11 best Survivor blindside moments. So grab yourself some rice and boiled water, and read on.
