Release date: July 28, 1993
Robin of Loxley forms the Men in Tights to take back his father's land and oust the tyrannical Prince John from the British throne.
Robin Hood: Men in Tights isn't a Mel Brooks classic by a long shot, but it's still the best of the writer-director's '90s efforts; it's a good-natured riff on the Robin Hood legend and its various cinematic incarnations, particularly the Kevin Costner film that had been released two years prior. Brooks even finds ways to poke fun at himself and his previous works, with at least one direct reference to Blazing Saddles (made by a then-unknown Dave Chappelle). Cary Elwes makes for a fine Robin of Loxley, Amy Yasbeck makes for a lovely Maid Marian and Patrick Stewart adds more class than the movie deserves.
