Sci-Fi

I, Robot

Release date: July 16, 2004

The Pitch:

A Chicago homicide detective tries to determine whether a scientist committed suicide or was murdered... by a robot.

Why You Need It:

For a man often called one of the most important sci-fi authors of his era, there are remarkably few adaptations of Isaac Asimov's work. The Robot series are some of his most compelling works, so we were psyched when I, Robot made its way to the screen in 2004. Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics laid the groundwork for almost all robo-stories since, and this dynamic, visually stylish thriller based around a violation of those laws was right up our alley. Throw in some big action scenes and a wisecracking Will Smith you've got the makings of a robo-classic.

Talent:

Alex Proyas (director), Will Smith, Bridget Moynahan, Alan Tudyk, James Cromwell, Bruce Greenwood, Adrian Ricard, Chi McBride, Shia LaBeouf.
