In a crime-ridden dystopian future, a slain police officer is reborn as an ass-kicking cyborg.
You need it because it's Robocop. Seriously, explaining the glory of this movie to somebody who hasn't seen it is like explaining a perfect Porterhouse steak to a man without a mouth. Paul Verhoeven's sardonic, unflinching view of the future is nothing short of brilliant and the movie is so stuffed with throwaway gags, great dialogue and robot carnage that, were we trapped on a desert island with a solar-powered DVD player and only one movie, this might just be the movie we'd pick. Robocop has also aged remarkably well - you won't get that awkward '80s vibe with this masterpiece.
Paul Verhoeven (director), Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Ronny Cox, Dan O'Herlihy, Kurtwood Smith, Miguel Ferrer, Robert DoQui, Ray Wise, Felton Perry.
