Dirty Details Done Dirt Cheap:
The ED-209 project was spearheaded by Omni Consumer Products executive Dick Jones as "the future of law enforcement," a "robot cop" with superior firepower, armor and muscle that could clean up the crime-ridden streets of Old Detroit as OCP made way for the shiny new Delta City. What ED ended up being was a lumbering, clumsy, frequently malfunctioning bucket of bolts with a tendency to default to "homicidal" mode. ED made quite a scene during Jones' initial presentation of the model, blowing an OCP upstart to smithereens in the middle of the conference room. After OCP's CEO, the "Old Man," expressed his disappointment, OCP hotshot Bob Morton was given the green light to go forward with his own RoboCop project.
