Stu Shepard is an arrogant, smooth-talking talent agent and publicist, a man who delights in throwing his weight around, promising this and that to various celebrities, hustling deals and wearing cool clothes. Stu is also contemplating cheating on his hot wife Kelly with a young wannabe actress named Pam, even going so far as removing his wedding ring whenever he contacts her from a phone booth (so as not to have Pam's number on his cell phone bill). This is a man in need of a moral cleansing if there ever was one, and a man known only as The Caller is the one to instigate it, calling Stu in the phone booth one afternoon and saying he'll be shot if he hangs up. Soon, all of New York is buzzing about this bizarre hostage situation from which Stu Shepard will emerge a broken but redeemed man.
