The Marines are no match for the extraterrestrial horrors that have infested the colony of LV-426.
Because it's Aliens, and it's directed by James Cameron, and it's just all sorts of slam-bang awesome. Cameron took the basic concept of Alien and made it his own, transforming a claustrophobic chamber piece into a glorious non-stop rollercoaster ride. Sigourney Weaver proves she's the true 20th Century Fox as Ellen Ripley, the greatest female action character ever - the climactic one-on-one fight between two badass and extremely pissed-off mamas (Ripley and the Alien Queen) is nothing short of breathtaking. There is old-school movie magic at work here - Cameron took relatively modest resources and made something truly grand and awe-inspiring. Aliens is a genre masterpiece that deserves its place next to its brilliant predecessor.
James Cameron (director), Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Carrie Henn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton, Jenette Goldstein, William Hope, Al Matthews, Mark Rolston.
