Software
developer VALVE had a couple of major announcements earlier this week; the
first of which was that there is going to be a sequel to the critically
acclaimed Portal released later this
year, and the second was that the company's game distribution service Steam, as
well as many of its games, will soon be coming to Macs. While the latter may
only make a small sect of gamers happy, the former should put a smile on the
face of anyone that has escaped the Aperture test facility in the past. To
honor these big announcements this week's Auctioneer is all about VALVE, and
the games that they've brought us.
Weighted
Companion Cube
The
scene stealing Weighted Companion Cube was the surprising inanimate love
interest of 2007's Portal. Now you
can show your devotion to the cube by wearing it, or taking it wherever you go.
For the low, low price of $4.50 you can score yourself a pair of Weighted
Companion Cube earrings, or, for the same price, a Companion Cube key ring.
Everyone had better keep their fingers crossed for the return of the Companion
Cube in Portal 2. We can only be so
lucky.
Orange
Box/Half-Life Wrist Watch
Gordon
Freeman may be one of the best looking nerds in video games, but does he have
enough geek cred to pull off this sweet Half-Life watch, featuring none other than himself? It may be a question for the ages,
but for $16.99 you have to ask yourself a more important question, whether or
not you think you can pull it off.
5
Left 4 Dead 2 Posters
Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 have hands down some of the best promotion material
released in the last few years. Just look at this collection of faux-movie posters
from each of L4D2's scenarios. You
get all five posters for $64.99; which means you can decorate each wall and the ceiling of the room you're going
to lock yourself in when the zombie apocalypse finally happens. Oh, it's
coming, and you better be prepared.
Team
Fortress Art
There
are few things that are more satisfying than helping out a struggling artist,
and now's you're opportunity to see just how fulfilling it is. eBay seller cleocatraosiris currently has three pieces of Team Fortress 2 fan art up for sale. All
three pieces are oil on wood, and depict one of the game's classes in their own
unique way. Who knows, this guy could be the next Picasso, and now's your
chance to get in on the ground floor, and at the same time, show your love of
the Scout to all your friends.
Steam
Account with 111 Games
You
can't talk about VALVE without at least mentioning Steam, and if you're not a
member, well then you're either a console gamer or a Mac user. Either way, if
you think now's the time to take the plunge you can purchase this user's
account, which comes complete with all the games that he has purchased in the
past, for just $421.85. While it may be a bit of a risky proposition, since the
seller lives in Poland, if everything works out the way it's supposed to, you
could score yourself some PC classics like, Star
Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Counter
Strike Source, Mass Effect, and Zombie Bowl-o-Rama.
ENDING
SOON:
Counter-Strike
Concept Xbox Box Art
I'll be honest, I'm not 100% sure exactly what
this is, but it definitely looks like something that wasn't released to the
gaming public. It appears to be a limited edition concept of the artwork for
the Xbox release of Counter-Strike.
If you're a fan of the game, it might be worth the gamble since the listing is
still at less than one dollar, but you're going to need to move quickly since
the auction ends very soon.
