DC just spit in the face of decades of children (and "children") who wore their underwear outside their pants in an attempt to emulate their favorite superhero (as well to just kind of see what it felt like).
As seen on this cover image from the upcoming Superman #1, Superman is ditching the red crotch-huggers in favor of what the L.A. Times dubs an "alien-tech sleekness." Uh, okay. What I see is a new Batman-esque utility belt to replace the gold band, no underwears, some new lining, and that's about it.
Far from the enormous change I was expecting for this mega DC reboot, the new Superman suit is pretty tame. Infuriating, but tame. If anything, it just seems unnecessary, a sort of costume change just to have a costume change.
The cover for DC's other big Superman reboot, Action Comics #1, shows Superman in jeans and a Superman t-shirt. Wearing a t-shirt of yourself...not too shabby.

Clark Kent, however, will go on accidentally wearing his underwear outside of his pants.
