Rejoice, alternate history and comic book fans, the Lords of Marvel have seen fit to bestow us with the awesome-looking upcoming miniseries, Avengers 1959.
Spinning off of Brian Bendis's work on New Avengers, Avengers 1959 will pit the unique squad against super-powered Nazi survivors. Does this mean they will be fighting Nazis who survived World War II, or people like Magneto who survived the Nazis? Because, you know, that's different.
The legendary Mister Howard Chaykin is taking on writing and art duties for the five-parter starring Nick Fury's motley crew, which includes Sabretooth, Kraven the Hunter, and Namora fightin' around the world from New York to Madripoor.
"I'm grabbing what feels like a brass ring here, with the opportunity to do an untold story of the lost years of the Marvel Universe," Chaykin explained.
You'll have to wait for October for Avengers 1959 #1 to answer all of your burning questions, like "How did Nick Fury get that nasty case of pink eye?" and "Will the Avengers end up in a trademark battle with Emma Peel and John Steed?"
