The outspoken game designer, famous for God of War and Twisted Metal, tells us about his favorite games, gadgets and gear.

In our new feature "Celeb Selects," we have celebrities and geek luminaries name their top picks in movies, music, gadgets and more. To kick off the series, we recently got Twisted Metal and God of War designer David Jaffe on the phone to talk about what kind of things he's into at the moment as he's working on his unannounced new game. Read on to see his "girly" picks (his words, not mine).

Video Game Pick: Darksiders

"I'm playing Darksiders. That's my passion right now. I'm loving it because of the dungeon designs. I love War, the main character. I love the art style that Joe Madureira has brought to it. And I love the combat. The combat feels fantastic."

Gadget Pick: iMac

"My latest gadget: I got a big-screen iMac, I'm a big Apple guy. I will be sitting here (January 27th) to watch the Apple conference. Hopefully they unveil the iSlate. I will get one if it does what I want it to do. I'm a huge magazine and comic fan. I read books sometimes, but I read magazines a lot, and I read comics a lot. I want to go to the iTunes store and get subscriptions -- my Sunday L.A. Times, Entertainment Weekly and games magazines, and Marvel and DC comics -- I'm totally excited to see that."

Music Pick: Whitney Houston's I Look To You

"I know I'll sound like a dork, but I really like a couple of songs off the new Whitney Houston album (I Look To You). It's pretty good. I've only recently gotten into Jay-Z. I really like "Empire State of Mind" with Alicia Keys.

"Look, I like hip-hop. I'm not one of these guys who go, (speaking in The Simpsons' Comic Book Guy voice) 'I'm very eclectic, I like Coltrane.' I don't. I don't care for The Beatles all that much. I don't have great musical taste. I love top 40 music, I love hip-hop and rap. I love R&B. I love pop music. I like Kesha. 'TiK ToK' is a great song. I was just listening to Holst's 'The Planets' when you called. I'm not one of these guys from High Fidelity that knows my music. I don't take any pride in that. I don't give a s--t. Just give me something fun to listen to that suits the mood that I'm in, and I'm fine."

Clothing Pick: Disneyland Hat

"I have a beat-up Disneyland hat that I wear all the time. I take my kids to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and instead of taking a shower and putting some s--t in my hair, I just like to put this on all the time and wear that. So that's my beat-up green Disneyland hat. It's kind of cool -- it's got brown trim, it says 'Disneyland Resort.' It's got a metal emblem with the mouse ears and the big 'D' logo on it."

Movie Picks: It's Complicated and Serendipity

"I just saw It's Complicated, which I liked. I would really like to have the house in that movie. All of the Nancy Meyers movies, she has such amazing art direction. All of her stuff looks really cool.

"You know what I finally got around to watching? I finally got around to watching Serendipity because I'm a big Kate Beckinsale fan. I think she's really hot, and she's my movie girlfriend. And everybody's been saying watch this if you like romantic comedies, and I do like romantic comedies. I saw that Netflix was streaming it so I put it on in a corner window of my Mac in my office while I was working, and was like, 'That's a really good movie.'"

TV Picks: Real Time With Bill Maher and Brothers & Sisters

"I'm very excited for Bill Maher to come back on. He's on hiatus right now. I love that show. I like Brothers & Sisters a lot. I got to admit that I do. These are all very girly answers by the way. I'm fully aware of that. But it's what I like, ya know?"

DVD Pick: The Power of Myth Box Set

"For Christmas, I got the box set of The Power of Myth with Joseph Campbell. I haven't seen those for a long time, and I'm really enjoying them."

Comic Book Picks: Captain America and Amazing Spider-Man

"I am a huge fan of reading comics on the computer now. I've been subscribing to Marvel's digital comics since it launched. And even though they have some probelms with their release schedule and their interface, I just love reading comics online. I never got into the Ed Brubaker Captain America, so I'm reading that. I'll always be reading Amazing Spider-Man. It has its high and low points."
