With our recent report that Tommy Lee Jones may be circling a role in Captain America: The First Avenger, comes news that British character actor Toby Jones, famous for his portrayal in the lesser-seen Truman Capote biopic Infamous and as the voice of Dobby the House Elf in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, will put his face in his chest as Arnim Zola, Captain America's evil scientist nemisis.
Who is Zola and why is his face in his belly?
In certain comic arcs, Zola was a World War II gentic engineer whose crazy experiments were financed by the Red Skull (when Hitler wasn't around to show support). He created creatues to unleash upon Captain America - like a Dr. Moreau for the Marvel Universe. Instead of growing old, Zola found eternal youth by creating a new body for himself, thus the holographic head on his chest.
How Zola fit into the big (screen) picture, but it wouldn't hard to picture him as Red Skull's right hand man. Between this and Thor, the Marvel Universe is starting to get pretty out there, no?
