A rumor we heard a while back has proven to be true. Hugo Weaving has been tapped by Joe Johnston to play Captain America’s nemesis Red Skull in The First Avenger: Captain America.
Weaving Hugo into the cloth of this film is the best news we've heard about this film. To speak bluntly, Joe Johnston hasn't made a good movie in eleven years (October Sky) and the fact that the grapevine has been buzzing on casting for the other main roles for weeks ain't helping. Now, at least, we've got a perfect villain. Let's hope the rest falls into place.
This is great news. Weaving was the only good thing about Johnston’s soggy piece of toast that was The Wolfman, so clearly the two have a rapport. Beyond, that, though, let’s recall: from Rivendell to the Desert of the Real, Weaving is pretty much awesome in everything. Observe:
