Check out our Sci-Fi Week Special!
I've killed virtually everything that moves, one time or another, a hundred different species, sentient and dumb; if it breathes I've probably killed it or something like it. But I've killed clean. I've killed without stretching it out.
Bringing Han Solo to Jabba at the end of Empire Strikes Back was not Fett's first gig for the Hutt. In the Clone Wars Novel A New Threat, we are introduced to a younger and not quite as deadly Boba Fett who has worked his way up to become Jabba's favorite bounty hunter. On his first off-planet mission for the Hutt, Fett is sent to kill Wat Tablor, but fails and instead needs to fight some killer tentacles and General Grievous. Things don't go well from there, but he manages to escape with his life by touching some fungus that makes him appear dead.
You know, I am always the first to say, there is never a paralyzing fungus around when you need it. Leave it to Boba Fett to make me eat my words.
Vader vs Boba Fett - Round 2
In the comic miniseries, Boba Fett: Enemy of the Empire, Boba faces off for the second time against Darth Vader (yes he fights him multiple times) on the fiery planet of Maryx Minor. Vader hired Fett to retrieve a box that has a living head in it that can tell the future. Fett of course takes care of business, but the problem is Vader can't afford to let anyone live who knows about the box and has hired a group of hunters to take out the Fett.
When that doesn't work, Vader attempts to take out Fett himself. The battle, which is a geek dream come true, ends in an improbable draw. I am as big a fan of Fett as anyone, but even I don't think he could face off against Vader. What's are you gonna tell me next. . .that Boba Fett has a lightsaber?
Vader vs Boba Fett - Round 1
In the story Prey, which appeared in issue #11 of Dark Horse Comic's Star Wars Tales, future Grand Moff Tarkin hires Boba Fett to capture Han Solo after he left the Imperial Army. Vader, who dislikes bounty hunters decides to prove his superiority by capturing Solo himself. This leads to what would be the first fight between Vader and Fett, and much to Vader's and my surprise, Fett is packing a lightsaber!
**dramatic eyeroll**
I totally WTF'd when I turned to that page. I mean it is a geek dream to see it, but it defies all geek logic for it to happen. In a horribly improbable twist, Fett is able to hold his own against the Dark Lord of the Sith.
