The thusfar somewhat questionable cast of the new Three Stooges movie just got a sizable comedic boost with the addition of Larry David. The Curb Your Enthusiasm star and Seinfeld co-creator will be playing a nun by the name of Mother Mengele. This is funny for at least three reasons:
1) David is a man, and nuns are women.
2) David is Jewish and nuns are Catholic.
3) His character has the same last name as Josef Mengele, the Nazi physician responsible for some of the regime's most cruel, grisly and depraved "experiments."
Classic Farrelly brothers. Totally classic. No word yet on whether this points to a darker, grittier reboot of the Three Stooges franchise, but here's hoping we guess.
The last time a Jewish man dressed up like a nun.
Mother Mengele is reportedly the HBIC at the orphanage where the Stooges grow up, and is assisted in her duties of exasperation and sputtering rage by Mother Superior, who will be played by Jane Lynch. The Stooges themselves, Moe, Curly and Larry will be played by 24's Chris Diamantopoulos, Mad TV's Will Sasso and Will & Grace's Sean Hayes, respectively, but not necessarily respectfully.
