Matt Patches: When I
spoke with Cillian [Murphy], I admitted that Inception had kicked my mind's ass - and I appreciated that. It's rare to find that kind of
thought-provoking action, and I imagine it's equally has difficult finding projects like this. How and when did you come on board the projcet?

 Tom Hardy: I came
aboard last June. I was in pre-prep for Warrior. I was
asked...Chris Nolan said he wanted to speak to me and would I fly out to meet
him. We had a chat, an hour-long informal chat by the seaside. It was very
nice.
Matt Patches: Sounds
perfect, very dreamlike.
Tom Hardy: [laughs]
Yes, on the beach. He couldn't talk too much about it. Can I read the script
and he said," No, I can't give you a script."
Matt Patches: How
did he  describe the movie without
giving anything away and still interest you? Or did he just say, "Hey, I made The
Dark Knight - get in my movie"?
Tom Hardy: Well, he
told me it's kind of a heist movie with a twist...its quite different
and...something you'll need to read. It was vague, he wasn't giving too much
information. It wasn't until I received the script I realized to the depths of
which where he wanted to go with his concept. It was quite out of left
field...something I hadn't expected in any way, shape or form. Brilliant.
