For the more financially stable among us who want to break into the superhero biz, creating a badass costume is significantly easier. We’re guessing that Chris D’Amico/The Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) had the ability to visit one of New York’s many custom leather shops, but for those of you out in the ether, here’s some tips.
CUSTOM LEATHER SUIT: While you’d need to have SERIOUS cash to hire a legit movie costume designer, a perfectly acceptable alternative is a leather motorcycle suit, which can be found by doing a quick Google search for “custom leather suit.” A lot of online vendors will walk you through the process until you get the perfect cuts and colors.
MASK & CAPE: Again, short of hiring a professional designer or taking a chance at a leather shop, you’re not gonna be able to find a mask like Red Mist rocks in Kick-Ass. However, when you’ve got expendable income you can afford to get creative. Go visit a costume shop or a fabric store – you may discover that your career path lies in fashion and not crime-fighting.
BOOTS: You’ve got the leather suit, mask and cape, and now all you need is a pair of menacing leather boots to complete the ensemble. Since we advised you go moto with the suit, why not get some motorcycle boots from one of the many online retailers to match?
A “-MOBILE”: Any self respecting superhero isn’t gonna fight crime by taking the bus, and if you’ve got money to burn, why not take the plunge on a super slick muscle car – like Red Mist’s Mistmobile. That said, we advise you hold off from telling an auto insurance company that you’ll be using your vehicle primarily for crime fighting.
