Apparently unsatisfied by Antoine Fuqua's 2004 action epic, Hollywood is once again demanding a reimagining of the King Arthur mythos. This time around, Warner Bros. has tapped director Guy Ritchie - currently attached to at least 4,000 projects - to develop a new take on the classic character with Trainspotting writer John Hodge.

Variety reports that Ritchie and Hodge will craft the script using Thomas Malloy's text "Le Morte d'Arthur" as inspiration. First published in 1485, the book features a number of stories about Arthur, drawing from both French and English narratives. It's unclear at this time whether the duo will adopt a straightforward historical tone for the material, or apply the more whimsical, action-adventure approach used in Ritchie's latest blockbuster, Sherlock Holmes.

Speaking of which...with the wheels already turning on a sequel to Sherlock - which Ritchie is fully expected to direct - as well as uncertain futures for Ritchie's other projects - including the long-in-development Lobo, The Siege of Malta and The Gamekeeper -- just where this new Arthur tale will fit into the director's schedule remains to be seen.  That said, after Ritchie's directorial performance on Sherlock, we're happy to see that the man's keeping busy.
