Fans of old men kicking ass, torturing people for information and running roughshod over major world cities have reason to rejoice today as Variety reports that Fox has agreen to distribute the sequel to the 2008 thriller Taken.
The original film starred Liam Neeson as a former black-ops hardass whose daughter is immediately kidnapped by a white slavery ring upon arriving in Paris. Neeson's character then sets about doing whatever it takes to get his sweet princess back, up to and including killing swarthy Eastern European and Middle Eastern men and shooting innocent French ladies at their own dinner table. Why does it take an Irish guy to show us what is truly great about America?
Taken 2 is to be helmed by French director and professional wrestler Olivier Megaton, who is also behind Colombiana (check out the trailer here). While we're sure the sequel will include at least as much throat-punching and wanton destruction as the original, there is, as of now, no word on what girl Neeson will be trying to rescue or what major city he'll be rampaging through in the process.
