| 5 | Hellboy's Revenge |
Cunning swordsmanship versus brute strength.
Hellboy takes his revenge on his father's killer, bashing Kroenen's face plate to metallic mush. Even when the Nazi thinks he has the upper hand, Hellboy swings another punch, landing Kroenen on a bed of spikes sundae with a giant cog cherry on top.
| 4 | Liz Lights the Room Up |
Liz's first massive assault using her fire power is an extremely cool bit of special effects, hearkening back to the vaporizing techniques used against the vampires in the Blade movies. The moment is even more gratifying knowing Liz has found some peace in this world.
Del Toro knows: emotional arcs are sooooo hot right now.
| 3 | Hellboy Opens the Portal |
Yup, there are those outer-space-Hell-dimension-crazy-Cthulu things.
When Hellboy fist pumps a large, Russian obelisk with his Right Hand of Doom, the sky opens up and slithery creatures emerge. Thankfully, a little motivational speech from the secondary character John Myers convinces Hellboy that, instead of letting Earth be overrun by demons, he may just prefer punching Rasputin in the face.
| 2 | Breaking Off the Horns |
Hellboy makes his decision: no more Tim Curry Legend impersonation for him.
Big Red sticks it to this destiny by forcefully removing his newly grown horns, sending shards of crimson bone flying in every direction. That is so metal.
| 1 | Hellboy vs. a One Big Motherf*cker |
Hellboy concludes with one final battle against a giant, Lovecraftian beast that was lying dormant inside Rasputin like an overgrown tapeworm.
Hellboy attempts to slice and dice, but to no avail -- he realizes the only way to defeat this "god" is from the inside, which he does with a nifty bomb belt. If only the monster had followed up with two Tums, he may have stood a chance.
