by K. Thor Jensen

We all know that it's the most important meal of the day, but did you also know that it's the most cinematic? Yes, dear reader, the proud tradition of breakfast has a storied cinematic heritage. Countless depictions of scrambling eggs, squeezing orange juice and sitting down to heaping bowls of cereal have been committed to celluloid, in slasher flicks and comedies, anime and documentaries. But what are the eleven best breakfasts in film history? We have developed an infallible system of rating big-screen breakfasts that takes into account every possible factor, from the pour of the coffee to the rustling of the newspaper, and generated a list of the eleven best breakfasts ever lensed. This is the Oscars of OJ, the Emmys of eggs, the Tonys of toaster strudel - these are UGO's Top 11 Movie Breakfasts.

Elf

When you're raised by the diminutive helpers of Santa's Workshop, you don't do things like normal people. Take Buddy, a young orphan boy who crawls into Santa's sack one Christmas night and ends up on the North Pole being brought up to think he's just a hyperthyroidal elf. Of course, Buddy needs to return to the world of humans and be reunited with his birth family, as it's beyond unnatural for him to try to fit his jumbo-sized body into an elf's tiny world. On returning to New York, Buddy tracks down his father, curmudgeonly children's book publishing executive Walter Hobbs, and tries to become a part of his life once more. After a paternity test, Buddy moves in with his new old family, and does his best to help out. Buddy starts his papa's day by making him an elf-style breakfast - leftovers from last night's spaghetti dinner mixed with maple syrup, Lucky Charms, and lots and lots of delicious sugar. And he even throws some into some giant Ziploc bags for lunch!
