Carrie Fisher only had one film credit, Shampoo, before she gained worldwide popularity (and her own action figure) as Princess Leia in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. She also appeared as the Mystery Woman in The Blues Brothers. Other film credits include The Man with One Red Shoe, Woody Allen's Hannah and Her Sisters, Joe Dante's The 'burbs, Wes Craven's Scream 3 and Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. She received critical acclaim for her supporting role in When Harry Met Sally... She is also the author of the autobiography, Postcards from the Edge.
Princess Leia was the first crush for many a young boy back in the '70s when the first Star Wars movie came out. Many of our daydreams involved rescuing her from the clutches of Darth Vader, just like Luke and Han. Our adolescence went into overdrive in 1983 with Return of the Jedi, which featured Carrie in a slave-girl bikini in the palace of Jabba the Hutt. She even looked pretty good when the Ewoks gave her a new hairstyle. Natalie Portman may be the number-one Star Wars girl now, but Carrie Fisher will always be the first.
