Comic-Con Cosplay: Jedi Girls

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, a sect of cosplaying females decided they didn't want to dress up in gold bikinis for gross comic convention men to ogle over -- they wanted to be badasses. Meet the brave and bold lady-Jedi of the universe!

The Force Is Strong With These Gals

Audiences got their first taste of Star Wars almost 35 years ago, and since then, few have been able to escape the gravity of its fandom. After the prequel trilogy, the countless toy tie-ins, the multiple animated series, most people would give anything to be able to give the franchise the cold shoulder. But they can't, because it will always be frickin' cool.

That's the real force. There's too much appeal in waving around a lightsaber.

Aayla Secura, the Committed Cosplayer

Only in the Star Wars universe can a blue-skinned lady with two tentacles growing from her skull be beyond sexy, but that's why Trek fans refer to SW as "fantasy" and not "sci-fi."

Sorry, Trekkers -- I'll take Aayla Secura's wild saber skills over whatever Federation babes you want to dish out. It's completely normal to think prehensile appendages are kind of hot.

The Prequels Aren't All Bad

Speaking of Twi'lek's, how about everyone's favorite, similarly-tentacled Torgruta, Ahsoka from Clone Wars. Here she's all grown up and chipper as ever.

We're just glad Anakin isn't obstructing our view per usual. As Yoda would say, "Cockblocked this onlooker is."

Nothing Fancy

You'll see every wardrobe and make-up choice under two suns from lady Jedi cosplayers, but sometimes showing your appreciation for a franchise's legacy can be captured in the simplest of getups. I don't know how many Council Members wear summer scarves during the hotter days on Coruscant, but this girl's rocking that and her lightsaber belt as hard as any other fan.

Force Hand of God

The Jedi are the most powerful, and peaceful, beings in the universe -- so it seems appropriate that this woman would infuse her gentle Jedi stance with a dash of Christ imagery. These are not the droids you are looking for and Baby Jesus is very happy to bless you today.
