The Darkness was a sleeper hit when it was released in 2007; the
game won over players with touching moments, solid gameplay and an interesting
story of a hitman on the brink of losing himself to dark powers during a revenge
spree. It's been years without a follow up sequel, but 2K Games is bringing The
Darkness back to consoles and PC on February 7.
The original developer Starbreeze Studios has
moved on, but Canadian developer Digital Extremes (Unreal Tournament, Bioshock
2 multiplayer) is picking up the torch and running with it and have put
together a solid game. The preview disc we received from 2K included a good chunk of
the game, but wasn't the complete story; that said, we loved what we've played so far. We'll have a The Darkness 2 review
ready for you in a few weeks, but until then, take a look at The Darkness 2 features and some of our thoughts on the game.
