25 | Vietnam: FPS |
Let's open up with something so completely out of the box that it's almost ridiculous. LittleBigPlanet is made for cute, cuddly platform games, right? So what would inspire some twisted individual to try to make a first-person shooter with it? Although Vietnam: FPS is pretty limited, it shows off exactly what the sequel's new logic and movement tools can do, as Sackboy hops in a chopper and mows down some Viet Cong.
24 | Galactic Base Defense |
Here's another genre making its first appearance in LittleBigPlanet 2: tower defense. The popular casual strategy games are wildly popular on the Internet, and while this first take on the concept is fairly primitive, all of the key elements seem to be in place: lines of creeps, upgradable towers, et cetera. This is obviously the beginning of something cool.
23 | Pac-Man |
One excellent way to learn the basics of game design and programming is to try to copy existing games - see what they do and how they do it. LittleBigPlanet had many attempts at this, but the sequel is already showing that it's the real deal. The new Controllinator lets you take over all kinds of game objects, as you can see with this remarkably competent Pac-Man clone.
22 | SackFighter Dogfight |
If you want to live out your Top Gun fantasies, there's a LittleBigPlanet 2 level for that too. This has all of the fast-paced dogfighting action of Sega's classic After Burner, down to the barrel rolls. I'd play a whole game of this for sure.
21 | Blast Radius |
It's amazing that we're already seeing levels this polished just a few weeks into the game's lifespan - Blast Radius could be a PSN downloadable game all by itself, for God's sake. A full menu! Sweet lighting effects! This Asteroids remake with multiple weapons shows just how amazing a tool LBP2 is.
