25 | Deadpool Breaking the Fourth Wall |
Since his appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Deadpool has been absolutely everywhere, so it should come as no big surprise that he also shows up on the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 character select screen. Luckily, the Merc with a Mouth brought his trademark sense of humor with him, and just like in the comics, breaks the fourth wall to communicate with his legions of fans. Now if only they had fit some Bea Arthur references in too...
24 | Mike Haggar Laying Pipe |
Mayor Mike Haggar is without a doubt our favorite character in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Afterall, he's a loyal civil servant, a former professional wrestler, and most of his attacks do a ridiculous amount of damage. Also, it's supereasy to brain your opponents with a pipe - just like in Final Fight.
23 | Age of Apocalypse Wolverine |
While every character in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has multiple alternate costumes, the best ones belong to the Marvel heroes and villains, as they typically make reference to popular comic stories of the past. One of our favorites is Wolverine's Age of Apocalypse gear, from the massive 1990s X-Men crossover. Our only major problem with it? Wolvie's still got both his hands.
22 | Arthur's Skivvies |
Making the jump from 2D platformers to fighting games is Arthur, of Ghosts 'n Goblins fame. In addition to familiar weapons like swords and lances, the knight also brings his trademark red and white underwear, showing it off both when running into the lineup at the beginning of matches as well as when enough damage has been done to knock his armor clean off.
21 | Comic Book Covers |
Hidden on the character select screen is a tiny detail we almost missed. When you select your three characters, they appear heroically positioned together - as if they were a superhero team. But the small touch that really sells the look is the UPC symbol hidden down in the corner, just like on a real comic book cover.
