As our friends at Cracked have pointed out, having actual holodecks like those seen in Star Trek would inevitably bring about the end of the human race, as they would eliminate all need for social interaction, or any human effort whatsoever. Beautiful women and celebrities would appear and disappear at the touch of a button, and any video gaming adventure, no matter how grand would just as easily be accessed and manipulated.
