Where would we be without The Rock? Sure, skinny ninja spy guys are fun, but sometimes you just want a hulking beast of a man who isn't afraid to shoot first and ask questions never in your R-Rated action films. Without The Rock we'd only have Vin Diesel and old Sylvester Stallone. Those guys are cool and all, but The Rock is more of a complete package. He can do light kid's films, he can do comedy, and of course, he can do balls-to-the-wall violence. He's been a busy bird lately, so we've taken stock of all the places you may have seen him recently.
The Rock is Everywhere
It seems like Dwayne Johnson, AKA The Rock, has been popping up everywhere lately. We're not complaining, but it's time to take stock in some of the man's more recent output because it can be hard to keep up.

| 11 | Fast Five |
Adding The Rock to the stupidly awesome Fast & Furious franchise is sort of like letting us open all our Christmas presents only to surprise us with a whole additional Christmas the next day. A lot of fan dreams came true at the sight of Vin Diesel and The Rock rolling on the floor in violent ecstasy. The nature of those dreams, however, we choose not to investigate.
Needless to say, The Rock added to the film in a big way and helped make it the hands-down best Fast & Furious film to date.

Judging by the trailer, things get pretty bad for the G.I. Joe team this time around. That's okay, though. They have The Rock.
The Rock will be playing Roadblock in the film, which means he'll be big, strong, and - if memory serves - wielding a giant gun. Sounds like the kind of thing he can handle. We'll be able to see for ourselves when the film opens June 2012.

The Rock retired from wrestling to become a full-time movie badass in 2004, though he'd still pop up now and then. But this year The Rock returned to wrestling big-time when he battled against John Cena at Wrestlemania XXVIII and later did a three-hour edition of Raw titled "Raw Gets Rocked."
It's unclear how much more wrestling The Rock plans to do, but fans freaked out at the return of signature moves such as "The People's Elbow," "The Rock Bottom," and "The Rock Raises His Eyebrow Suggestively."

In the opening scenes of The Other Guys, we learn that lame desk jockeys Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrel constantly have their work overshadowed by their police department's resident super-cops, played by Samuel L. Jackson and our man, The Rock.
He's not in the film for long, but he makes a big impression with his minimal screen time, which happens to include one of the funniest death scenes in recent movie history. As far as glorified cameos go, The Rock could do a lot worse (and he does, later in the list).

There are two ways to approach Southland Tales. One where you expect a cohesive story and another where you just sit back and enjoy the crazy stunt casting and WTF moments. Number two is the way to go.
This is certainly the strangest of The Rock's vehicles. His character has two names, and both of them are the best names ever (Boxer Santaros and Jericho Cane, for those of you about to have baby boys). He also gets to drop one of the oddest catch phrases in movie history: "Pimps don't commit suicide." None of it makes any sense, but at least he's willing to go weird once in a while. Maybe someday he'll show up in a Lars Von Trier movie.
