True Blood |
Sweaty vampires in the South, sucking and... Ummm... Sucking with an "F"? Sign us up. The first season of HBO's hit is deliciously cheeseball, ditching any sense of the greater impact to the world when vampires reveal themselves to be real in favor of soft-core pornography. Basically.
The Blu-ray is crystal clear, released in 1080p HD, with DTS-HD Master Audio, which means you can hear every moan. When vampires bite people, we mean. of course.
Misery |
James Caan (Las Vegas), and Kathy Bates (Harry's Law) co-star in this classic Stephen King (Maximum Overdrive) adaptation, directed by Rob Reiner (The Story Of Us), with a screenplay by King (Kingdom Hospital) and William Goldman (Memoirs Of An Invisible Man). Also starring Lauren Bacall (Scooby-Doo and the Goblin King)!
But seriously, this movie is a terrifying nightmare about fandom gone to far, with the best performance of Kathy Bates career. Other than Fred Claus, of course.

The Walking Dead |
Last year's breakout hit series successfully translated Robert Kirkman's comic to the small screen - and then some. Worth owning just for the spectacular pilot alone, the Blu-ray comes packed with bonus features and BTS material.

The Rite |
It's always a good time when Anthony Hopkins is slumming it - and while this super-serious exorcism flick isn't necessarily a laff a minute, it's fun to see Hannibal Lecter back in the genre we like him in. Plus? Rutger Hauer. Hey, when something feels so good to watch, it has

Red Riding Hood |
The Twi-lite horror retelling of everyone's favorite cautionary tale about not trusting your grandmother comes to vivid life from Director Catherine Hardwicke. Starring Amanda Seyfried, the period setting and heaving romance give ample opportunity for the star to highlight her huge... Talented... Assets.
She's got big ol' boobs, you guys. That's what we're saying.

Let Me In |
Hey, here's something really scary: a remake that's actually really, really good. Matt "Cloverfield" Reeves directs the American-ized version of the Swedish vampire classic, and manages to create something that's almost exactly even with the original. Meaning, it improves some sequences, and bungles a few others.
But over-all, it's like watching a terrifying alternate universe where Hit Girl vants to suck your blood.

Scream |
"Do you like scary movies?" If they're as good - and as funny - as the original Scream, then hell yes we do. Who would have thought that writer Kevin Williamson, and Director Wes Craven could create something so excitingly original by just spitting out horror movie cliches at the audience? But they did, and made a giant mega-star out of Neve Campbell.
Oh wait, nobody did that, ever.

Monsters |
On the forefront of the new generation of low budget, big effects horror movies, Monsters throws its two leads into the "infected zone," a place populated by Lovecraftian beasties from beyond the stars. An impressive debut, and a great - and scary - looking Blu-ray.
