About Agustin

Agustin Garcia graduated from DePaul University College of Law and received a bachelor of arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle. He is also a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago.

Agustin is a former staff attorney for the Office of Hearings & Appeals, currently known as the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review in the Social Security Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. As a staff attorney, Agustin assisted several administrative law judges by researching and writing decisions related to Titles II and XVI of the Social Security Act.

He has also served as a Hearings Referee for the Department of Employment Security for the State of Illinois. In that capacity, he presided over administrative law hearings and rendered decisions pursuant to the Unemployment Compensation Act.

On May 15, 1981, Agustin received a Special Achievement Award from the Regional Chief Administrative Law Judge for his work as a staff attorney. This experience led to the establishment of Agustin G. Garcia P.C., in 1981. A law firm which has successfully represented the disabled before the Office of Adjudication and Review, Social Security Administration and the United States District Courts in Illinois for over thirty years.

He is a member of the following professional organizations: Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, American Bar Association and National Organization of Social Security Claimant Representatives.
