Integral Seeing as Practice
Now take the integrating process further – bringing together the external and internal perspectives while looking at the drawing. (You may find the diagram helpful.) This is the dance of part and whole in understanding. It is a circle, or perhaps a spiral, such that there are no strict rules for how to take up the perspectives on art and integrate them into greater and greater fullness and non-fixity, an openness for the ongoing process of deepening understanding. Of course this takes practice – a practice of integral aesthetics. With some persistence greater ease with the process will kick in – and more quickly than you might expect! And then what begins to manifest in engaging artworks is an integral seeing that profoundly expands and deepens aesthetic experience.
