OCTOBER FEST
Join in the fun as Angeles City celebrates
Fiestang Kuliat next month
The locals of Angeles City are
gearing up for Fiestang Kuliat,
which takes place in October.
The month-long celebrations
honor the city’s patron saints.
We picked out a few must-see
highlights should you decide to
drop in on the celebrations.
A QUICK PEEK
To kick off the festivities, the
Fiestang Kuliat calendar will
be presented on September
25 at Plaza Angel. And to give
audiences a taste of what’s to
come, there will be cultural
performances. The Angeles
icon will be unveiled as well.
EXPRESSIONSOF FAITH
The Fiestang Kuliat is a joint
celebration of three feasts
in honor of the city’s patron
saints: Our Lady of the Holy
Rosary de la Naval, Apu
Mamacalulu or the Lord of the
Holy Sepulchre, and the Holy
Guardian Angels. Devotees
will be flocking to the Holy
Rosary Parish Church and the
Apu Mamacalulu Shrine in
Lourdes Sur to hear masses,
before marching down the
streets for the processions.
FESTIVALS GALORE
Celebrate with the locals at
Graciangeles, the newest
festival to be added to
Fiestang Kuliat. There will
be a parade and street
performances to honor the Los
Angeles de los Custodios.
Eat your heart out
in Pamangan Fiesta
Kapampangan. Up-
and-coming chefs and
home cooks will be
holding cooking demos,
while restaurants will be
showcasing their best
Kapampangan dishes.
The community will also
be getting together for the
SM City Clark Pyrofest
competition, Marquee Malls
Big Bite Sisig Festival, and
the Mamialang Tamu,
where you can try your
hand at playing traditional
Kapampangan games.
Then to close the
month-long festivities,
join the locals as they
head down to MacArthur
Highway to eat, dance
and make merry for the
Tigtigan Terakan Keng
Dalan. This event was set
up by the local government
in 1992 — a year after the
eruption of Mt Pinatubo
— to uplift the spirits of
the residents. There will
be performances by local
bands and celebrities, as well
as a host of fun activities
to take part in. Food and
drink stalls will be lined up
along the 1.5km stretch of
the highway, and promise to
offer up a variety of eats and
refreshing drinks.
