In celebration of its 20th year,
Philippine clothing brand
Plains & Prints launched the
Photo-Fashion Collection.
The designs featured
digitally printed photographs
by acclaimed fashion
photographer Mark Nicdao
and portrait photographer
Wig Tysmans.

stars and supermodels; he
As a testament to their
love for the sea, diver
friends Catherine Ham
and Kai Ledesma Trebol
founded their own
jewelry line featuring
sea glass — scraps of
glass refined and made
beautiful by the ocean.
As kids, Cat and Kai
used to comb beaches to
search for sea glass, so
takes photos for fun, too,
especially when he’s on
the road. For the Photo-
Fashion Collection, Mark
shared photos of his 2008
vacation in Rajasthan, India.
“[India] was really magical…
It was special because I’ve
never seen anything like
it — the people, the colors,
everything,” Mark says.
“When I saw the Plains &
Prints pieces, I was very
happy. I was transported
back to the streets of India…
It’s a proud moment.”
Wig, on the other hand,
chose to share some of his
most precious snapshots
for the Photo-Fashion
Collection. “These are
photos I took of my children
when my family still lived in
Baguio… we drove around,
and I just let them run free
while I took photos of them,”
Wig shared. The photos
were captured with infra-
red film, a technique Wig
experimented with during
the
’
70s. “It has this special
effect of making the skies
really deep blue. Combined
with the Baguio scenery of
the late
’
70s and early
’
80s, it
makes for interesting photos,
and now, interesting prints
on clothes,” he says.
So now, courtesy of the
two photographers, you can

when they created their line
of handmade jewelry,
they turned to the
material. “You
would think that
sea glass is just
rubbish being
thrown out by
people onto the
sea. However, as
the sea transforms it
into interesting shapes and
textures, it turns into this
unique treasure with
its own story,” Cat
says.
Most designs
by Cat and Kai
are inspired
by the marine
life they both
love, including
turtles, seahorses
and dolphins. These are
carved on silver and
then combined with sea
glass. “[These pieces] are
lovingly handcrafted and
designed by people who
care for the environment,”
says Kai.
