(nowOslo) in 1829,when thearmy
intervened in thecelebrations,
causingoutrage.With the launch
of the first children’sparade in
1864, thecelebrationsbecame
more firmlyestablished– today,
children’sparades,marchingbands
and traditional costumesareat the
coreof thecelebrations.That, and
everyonegettingquitemerry.
