HTChas taken its experienceand
knowledgeof producinghigh-quality
smartphones, tablets and cameras, and
applied them to thedevelopment of its
ownVRproduct, Vive, in collaborationwith
Valve, thegames company responsible for
hits suchasPortal andHalf-Life.
Vive’s VR experience ismade all the
more immersiveby its externalmotion
tracking, which relies on cameras set up in
the area or roomyou areplaying in. This
gives the user the ability towalk around
the roomwhilewearing theheadset,
translating real life steps intovirtual ones.
“Our virtual realityoffering is setting
thebar for this technology,” says Jason
Mackenzie, president of HTCAmericas.
Health is another sector that HTC is
breaking into, and an areaMackenzie
is excited about. HTC isworkingwith
sportswear brandUnder Armour to
transformhowpeoplemonitor, measure
andmanage their health.
