Supporting Long-Term Recovery

Recovery is a continuous journey. Support is key to making recovery easier. Support groups and guidance are key to your success in drug rehab. Support is available to you, regardless if you are in recovery yourself or supporting someone else.

Rehab Drug

Only a few people with addiction seek treatment because of the perceived high cost. Although rehab's cost is minimal, it is still much less than the social and health costs that could be incurred if you choose to avoid treatment. These can be prevented by seeking treatment immediately.

Millions of Americans suffer from addiction every day. According to a U.S. surgeon General report, almost 21 million Americans suffer from a substance abuse disorder. Only 10 percent receive treatment for substance abuse.

Rehab Drug

Why? One reason may be due to the high costs. The cost of treatment was a major factor in the fact that almost 40% of Americans with substance use disorders didn't get to rehab between 2011-2014. They either couldn't afford it, or they didn’t have insurance.

The cost of treatment can be far lower than the cost associated with addiction. People don't realize the fact that insurance can dramatically reduce rehab costs. New laws require that insurance companies cover treatment for mental illness and addiction.

How Much Does Rehab Cost?

Each level of treatment in addiction centers across the country is different. For people with severe addictions, intensive and extended treatment may be required. Intensive treatment tends to be more expensive than standard care.

Detox

Detox is the process by which drugs are removed from the body. It also helps to overcome withdrawal symptoms. Based on data from drug treatment facilities in the United States, the average cost for a 30-day detox program is $250 to $800 per person.

Residential Treatment

Basic residential treatment is estimated to cost between $2,000 and $25,000 and often includes assessments and 24-hour supervision. The cost of long-term residential treatment, which lasts between 60 and 90 day, could be twice as high.

Luxury rehab facilities may charge more than $25,000 per month for 30 days. Most private treatment centers charge much less.

Outpatient Rehab

Outpatient care allows patients the freedom to live at their own homes while they receive treatment. Patients can learn to live at home and avoid the need for a hospital by attending several appointments. For a three-month program, outpatient care can cost as much as $5,000. Outpatient care can cost up to $10,000 in some facilities.

Intensive Outpatient Rehab

Inpatient intensive treatment is a higher-quality version of outpatient therapy. It typically includes multiple appointments per work week, lasting approximately three hours per day. For 30 days, this level of care may cost you between $3,000 to $10,000.

Partial Hospitalization Programs

Partial hospitalization programs on the other hand are designed for patients who need to be treated intensively during the day, but can return to their normal home environment in the evening. PHP costs approximately $350-$450 per day.

Medication-Assisted Opioid Management

The U.S. Department of Defense published a report in 2016 that estimated the cost of different opioid treatment programs.

Programs for free

Treatment centers can be very expensive. However, some facilities offer payment assistance. Other locations offer programs that are completely free of charge and covered by state taxes. These programs sponsored by the state often have long waiting lists.

Individuals in recovery have another option: Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous are two options. These 12-step programs have been helping millions of people to achieve and maintain sobriety for more than 60 years through regular meetings. There are some faith-based organizations that offer free treatment.
