How to get ideas on what to write about

One of the hardest things to do is find subjects to write about that will attract visitors to your website. You have to spend time to research what keywords are being used by people on Google to find the information they are after. On the previous two pages I have covered using Google's Keyword Planner tool, Auto Suggestion tool and the Trends tool. Now I want to cover a few other options. My favorite one is Crowd Sourcing. It is as simple as asking people questions. What are you having difficulties with? What would you like to learn more about? How can I help you solve a problem? What subject interests you? You can do this using social media or by using e-mail.

Crowdsource for ideas on what to write articles and blog posts about

If you have analytics set up on your website then analyze the search words people typed into Google to find your pages. If you have an internal search engine built into your website then have a look at the activity log to see what words people used. Spend time reviewing the comments followers have left on your social media and blog posts. What were they talking about? Can you find a trend? Is there a subject they were discussing that is missing from your website? Look over old e-mails you received to get ideas for future blog posts and articles.

What was your users intent when they put in the keywords in Google?

When you chose a keyword to use think about how your could refine your choice to target the correct audience for your website. You can do this by working out the user's intent when they searched for a particular set of words on Google or Bing. Look at the example above. When a user enters the words Chelsea Football Club into Google's search box, what are the searching for? Is it for match dates, latest score, team information, tickets, gift shop, map or travel directions? You can optimize your keywords by adding words that will fine tune the result. Serve up pages that containing the information people interested in Chelsea Football Club may be searching for. Working out user's intent can can help you make return on investment conversions. You are optimizing your page so that the right people find it and click through, because your page has the information on it they were seeking.
