The Usage Information section of the Tool Detail provides the ability to track when a tool needs to be replaced. By capturing key information, the fields highlighted in yellow below, the estimated end of life date of a tool can be projected.

The following key input data is required to provide for a complete analysis:

• Current Cycle Count - define how many cycles of the tool have already been used.
• How Counts are Pulled - define if the cycle count provided is actual or estimated.
• Next Investment - define if the next capital investment would be to repair or replace the tool. 
• Scrap % - define what percentage of the parts produced by this tool are typically scrapped. (Enter decimal 1,2,3 etc.)
• Parts per Cycle or # of Cavities - define how many parts can be produced with one cycle of tool operation.
• Estimated Total Life (Cycles) - define how many cycles the tool is estimated to provide.
• % of Non Direct Ship - define what percent of usage this tool is dedicated to a different customer. (Enter decimal 1,2,3 etc.)

Optional Information that can be provided to describe the usage of the tool is:

• Cycle Time - define the amount of time in seconds that each cycle uses.
• Number of Repeated Tools - define how many duplicate tools are used to produce this part.
• Cavity IDs - define the identification numbers if the tool has multiple cavities. Please provide the identification numbers separated by commas. (maximum is 32 characters)
• Press Size (Tons)- define the press size of the tool if applicable?

Click Find and Calculate, for the following system calculated/stored values:

• Estimated Total Life (Parts)= the number of parts the tool is estimated to produce during its lifetime less scrap percentage.
• Estimated Parts Since Last Cycle Count = the number of parts produced based on direct parts received
• Estimated Parts Shipped Non Direct = % of Non Direct Ship x Parts Produced Since Last Cycle Count
• Estimated Remaining Part Count (ERPC) = Total Life (Parts) - Parts Produced based on Current Reported Cycle Count - Estimated Direct Parts Shipped since Last Cycle Count - Estimated Parts Shipped Non Direct
• Estimated End of Life Date- the date in which the system has calculated that the tool will need to be replaced.
