Configuring a snapshot transfer
The initial data transfer is run from the source storage device to the destination storage device. After the data is transferred, a snapshot is created.
Each subsequent transfer that is run transfers any missing data (the differential) from the source to the destination so that both have the same data. After the data transfer is complete, a snapshot is created to record the state of the data.
To configure a snapshot transfer:
1. On the Snapshot Manager menu, click Snapshot Transfer.
2. Click Snapshot Transfer Setup.
3. Select the source storage device from which the data will be read, and then click Next.
4. Select the volume or qtree on the source storage device that will be protected, and then click Next.
NOTE: Although all existing volume/qtrees appear in the list, you cannot select a replicated qtree or volume containing a replicated qtree as the source.
5. Select the destination storage device where the data will be copied, and then click Next.
6. Select the volume on the destination storage device where the data will be copied, and then click Next.
7. Select a snapshot retention policy for the destination volume, and then click Next.
8. Select a snapshot schedule for the destination volume, and then click Next.
9. Type a name for the snapshot transfer. Configure the bandwidth throttle and type a description.
10. Click Finish.
