ANGIE

Eldest child of the Fairvale banking dynasty.  High school class president.  Business school graduate.  Married Bennie, her high school sweetheart.  Was never absolutely sure whether she married him out of love or if it was her competitive nature leading her to choose the most eligible male among her peers.

After marrying Bennie, they both decided to become partners in business as well as in life.  While questioning Bennie’s business sense and judgment, Angie nonetheless initially went along with projects she would have never considered on her own.  The most notable of these was Bennie’s borderline obsessive desire to monopolize all coin operated business in Fairvale.  Angie did manage to steer their energies down more conventional avenues such as property acquisition, retail sales, and small manufacturing.  All financing was, quite naturally, done through Angie’s family’s bank.

During the first two years after the birth of the twins, Tessie and Sheena, Angie decided to give her full attention to their early development and therefore felt compelled to relinquish much of her control over “the business”.  During this period the health of the operations predictably deteriorated, despite Angie’s continued advice (now more easily ignored) from the sidelines.  Ultimately, it was Bennie’s lack of self-discipline that drove Angie over the edge and led her to ask for the divorce.

After the divorce Angie went to work at the family bank.  Bennie continued to manage on his own the business interests they had accrued together as a couple.  Slowly but surely, Angie found herself, a the bank officer in charge of Bennie’s risk/return policy guidelines to make many of Bennie’s decisions for him.  In this way what had become, as a result of their own decision, a central aspect of their marriage, remained as an integral part of both their lives after the divorce.
