I know its hard, but we've got to realise certain things. Life goes on without the Net. It isn't essential (yet). Recently I spent a couple of days unable to connect to the Net. It was missed, but I survived.
Now think to developing countries. They don't even have telephones, so when will they get online? Yet again we'll leap ahead just as they thought they were catching up. We're in power here, we've got the knowledge and the money to do something.
The Net will only be great and mind-bendingly powerful when we have EVERYONE online and we're taking part equally! Only when everyone is taking part in the digital world will the Net become unmissable, only then will life stop if you become unplugged.
I'm not against optimistic futuristic posturing, I love it! Just let's keep on the ground at the same time, then we'll all benefit. Keep dreaming, keep hoping and keep moving forward but take everybody along for the ride.
We've got a long way to go, the journey's only just beginning, we've got to show people where to go, together we'll make things happen. Netizens are leaders, we have been empowered, so we've got to use this wisely. We've got to wire the world, not just sit back and take what we've got for granted.
Go out, do it - wire the world and have fun!
